We've got 2200 trees (spruce, fir, pine) to giveaway!
In partnership with the Polson Artisan Market, the Museum & Archives of Vernon (MAV) is hosting the second annual Earth Day Celebration to celebrate the planet and promote environmental awareness.
This lively day will feature:
Exhibition Opening: What Trees Tell Us: A History of the Okanagan as Told by Trees 10:00 am–3:00 pm inside the MAV
Opening on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023, this new exhibit will feature several live edge art pieces by Vernon artist, Gerrasimos Marteselos.
Wood cuts on display will be from from Canoe (formerly Kin) Beach, Polson Park, East Hill, and other North Okanagan landmarks.
Earth Day Market 11:00 am-3:00 pm outside in Civic Park Partnership between the Polson Artisan Market and the MAV.
Selection of locally-made artisan goods curated in a theme of environmental-mindfulness. Artisans will either make it, bake it, grow it or upcycle to participate.
Panel Discussion: “Forests and Wildfire in a Changing Climate: Rekindling Indigenous Stewardship.” 2:00 pm inside the MAV
Presented by a panel of Indigenous fire management experts.
Discussion about fire mitigation, managing forests for community benefit, wildfire preparedness and cultural burning programs.
Sustainable Environmental Network Society (S.E.N.S.) Tree Giveaway 11:00 am–3:00 pm outside in Civic Park S.E.N.S. will be giving away 2200 spruce, pine, & fir trees generously provided by BC Forestry and PRT Growing Services Ltd.
